A participatory research project on urban agriculture with UC Professor of Agroecology Miguel Altieri on the Gill Tract will begin on August 10 as an attempt to effectively engage the community with the Gill Tract and to demonstrate how community involvement at the Gill Tract can enrich the community and foster appreciation for food justice and food sovereignty, and a proper ethic of land management. The callout for the research project invites community members committed to sustainable agriculture and food justice to participate, with a selection criterion being the submission of a crop plan by July 20th to tmt39 [at] cornell.edu. On July 13th, there will be a crop planning workshop to prepare community members committed in the project who desire additional instruction.
