"From the bosom of a devastated Earth a voice goes up with Our own. It says: "Disarm! Disarm!"-Julia Ward Howe's Mother's Day Proclamation -1870

On Mother's Day, let's rise up against the NRA lobby who represent the interests of the arms industry and not the safety of our children.

Since the massacre at Sandy Hook, there's been increasing momentum to bring sensible gun violence prevention with a ban on assault weapons and stronger background checks across the country.

The National Rifle Association is a powerful lobby and says it represents gun owners. But really it represents the interests of the arms industry. We saw the strength of the NRA in Washington DC as it helped kill a package of proposals intended to curb gun violence.

We say, "Arise then...women of this day! Arise, all women who have hearts!" To stop the senseless killing we must first make the NRA draw down. Let's drag the NRA lobbyists out of the shadows and expose how they buy democracy.

When: Friday, May 10, 2012, 11:30am
Where: Assemble on 10th St and Capitol Mall
What: March to the National Rifle Association office at 555 Capitol Mall (at 5th St.) in Sacramento

Join us as we speak for the silenced victims of gun violence while we march on the NRA for Mother's Day to say arms are for hugging, not for killing! We will read Julia Ward Howe's Mother's Day proclamation and create a memorial.

Code Pinks pacifist agenda plays into the hands of this ruling class perfectly. The small minority of less then 1/10th of a percent that controls the government and economy of this country does not want guns in the hands of the public but only in the hands of THEIR police force and army. The demand of the public to bear arms is over 700 years old and has as it's main reason the need for self protection against personal attack AND government oppression. Code Pink lives in a world that thinks you can pressure the oppressor and things will get better. The age of reform has long passed. Capitlism is in it's death agony and will choice facism to pull it's pork chops from the fire unless a revolutionary workers alternative is found. The slaves needed the Republican Party to help lead to their freedom and the workers and all the oppressed will need a revolutionary workers party to free them.
