Systems Science: A Holistic Worldview
with David Oertel

This will be a slide-show introduction to systems science or basic holistic science concepts. Systems science will be compared to classical scientific reductionism. We will discuss how scientific reductionism has failed at the planetary level. We will discuss systems theory, networks, feedback loops, tipping points, system-state changes, emergence, homeostatis, autopoeisis, the Gaia theory, and non-equilibrium thermodynamics. Little prior knowledge is assumed and there are no advance assignments for this Meetup. This is not a lecture so people are encouraged (but not obligated) to make comments throughout the presentation.

Humanist Hall is wheelchair accessible around the corner at 411 28th Street
