The Coastal Watershed Council’s (CWC) community-based Snapshot Day Event presents our 14th annual “snapshot” view of the health of the streams that flow into the Monterey Bay. Partnering with the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and hundreds of trained volunteers, we systematically sample the stream water throughout the central coast of California.
CWC and MBNMS staff will train you and put you on fun teams to record valuable water quality data such as pH, dissolved oxygen, electrical conductivity and transparency. You'll also pick up trash and collect water samples for laboratory analysis of bacteria indiciators and nutrients like nitrate and phosphorus. Learn more about why each of these indicators of watershed health is important, and be a part of this growing movement. Get some friends or family members and make it a fun day of caring for your environment. Join CWC and the MBNMS on Saturday, May 4th! Trainings will be held on the following dates (please plan to attend one training): Santa Cruz: Saturday, April 27, 2013, 10am-12pm OR 1-3pm Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor Public Meeting Room, 365 Lake Avenue, Suite A San Mateo: Monday, April 29, 2013, 6-8pm San Gregorio General Store, Hwy 84 & Stage Road Monterey: Sunday, April 28,213, 10:30am-12:30pm REI Store, General Stillwell Drive, Monterey San Luis Obispo: Tuesday, April 30, 2013, 5:30-7:30pm Coastal Discovery Center, Hearst State Beach, San Simeon For more information please contact us via email or phone!
