We call on the community to honor the legacy of Commander Hugo Chavez Frias. We will have a solidarity march for the Venezuelan people after a rally in the plaza. Please bring musical instruments, poetry, personal stories, posters and other offerings to honor Chavez. Please wear red because we are all Chavez! (Todos somos Chavez!)

The U.S. government is seeking to take advantage of this tragedy to intervene in Venezuela. DO NOT let this happen!! Let's go show solidarity just as Chavez did with all of Latin America!

Event organized by Venezuelan revolutionaries in SF and sponsored by FMLN, MITF (Marin Interfaith Taskforce for the Americas), ANSWER Coalition, BALASC and Haiti Action Committee.

I think it's a loss that Chavez has died from cancer . But let us not overstate what has been accomplished in Caracas . He was a Left Nationalist not a Marxist . He did not lead a Socialist revolution . He did implement a series of serious reforms for which his legagy should be credited . Also THe US govt. hated him for that and at least tacitly backed a coup against his govt.
But he was not in any ways a Marx, Lenin, Guervara , or even a Castro .
