The story of a personal journey, Who Bombed Judi Bari? (2012) depicts environmental activism and attempts to stop it. As a charismatic activist with Earth First!, Judi Bari protested the clear cutting of redwoods in Northern California. When her car mysteriously exploded in Oakland, seriously injuring Bari and a friend, the FBI claimed the two eco-activists had bombed themselves. This film seeks more credible answers.
Narrated by Judi Bari herself toward the end of her short life, sometimes in the face of FBI interruptions to her deposition, this is an affecting affirmation of courage. Archival footage and music, with songs by Woody Harrelson and Bonnie Raitt, also help to bring her poignant story to life. The film has already won several awards, including nomination for the Academy Award for Best Documentary. http://whobombedjudibari.com/
Dr. Paul Rea will lead a discussion following the film.
