We Won Some, Lost Some This Fall – What Do We Do Now?

Date:
Tuesday, January 15, 2013
Time:
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Event Type:
Meeting
Organizer/Author:
Randa Solick
Location Details:
Quaker Meeting House, 225 Rooney, Santa Cruz

Join us to look at ways to keep the momentum going after this fall’s elections. Micah Posner, environmental activist and new City Council member, will ask our support for a proposal he’ll present to the City Council. Local GMO campaign leaders will explain plans for the next try at labelling. Jeri Bodemar and Joy Hinz will explain actions we can support to reduce fraudulent foreclosures in the county. The Immigration Action Committee will describe their campaign to convince Sheriff Wowak to follow Kamala Harris’ lead and quick cooperating with ICE’s deportation operation. Other speakers will ask our endorsement of actions to pass progressive legislation locally and at the state level.

All this valuable information will enable us to decide which actions WILPF should support and endorse this coming year, and help plan how we’ll be involved. Help choose where each of us wants to spend his/her activist energy – and start 2013 with a great session of political strategizing!

January 15, Quaker Meeting House, 225 Rooney St., 7 pm. Free, open to the public, donations always welcomed.
