Protest Against Nudity Ban In San Francisco - November 14th, 2012

by Gypsy Taub
About 2 dozen nudists and 2 dozen clothed protesters gathered at the steps of the City Hall of San Francisco on November 14th, 2012. After the protest they marched to the Federal Building to file a class action law suit against the City of San Francisco. According to the nudists' attorney Christina Edoardo the proposed nudity ban is unconsitutional.

We had a great protest on Wednesday, November 14th. The protest was against the legislation by Scott Wiener that would prohibit public nudity citywide except for very few city permitted events. There were about 2 dozen nudists and the same number of clothed protesters present, as well as a very large number of media people. The protest was covered by almost every major media outlet nationwide and we even got some international press. A fan of my TV show "My Naked Truth" from Ireland emailed me a copy of an Irish newspaper that covered our protest and lawsuit. Reuters and Associated Press was there, we also got covered by the BBC and many many others. An award-winning documentary film maker Jan Dalchow flew in from Norway with his crew and a Norwegian photographer Kenneth Sortland Myklebust. Jan Dalchow is working on a documentary about nudism called "The Naked Dream" and is here to document the nudist protests and activism. Kenneth Sortland Myklebust is in San Francisco to shoot for 1000 Bodies Project ( http://www.1000BodiesProject.com).

At the end of the protest we marched naked to the Federal Building and filed a class action lawsuit against the City of San Francisco. Our attorney, Christina Edoardo, led the way. We tried to go inside the building naked but they didn't let us. Christina was dressed so she was still able to file the lawsuit.

New York Times posted a great photo:
