Circle Ansuz Bay Area Leidang Leafletted Counter-Currents Press

by Circle Ansuz Bay Area Leidang (circleansuzbay [at] riseup.net)
On October 30th the Circle Ansuz Bay Area Leidang leafletted Counter-Currents Publishing, a white supremacist publishing house. We wish to call attention to these perpetrators of hate who have been operating under the radar in San Francisco for too long.
PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION

We are the Circle Ansuz Bay Area Leidang. On October 30th, 2012 at 4:30PM we posted fliers in the vicinity of 1833 Lincoln Way at 19th & Lincoln, 19th & Irving, 20th & Irving, and on Kirkham Street from 16th Avenue to 22nd Avenue. 1833 Lincoln Way is the address of Counter-Currents Publishing, a distributor for white supremacist, white separatist, radical traditionalist, and racist propaganda including a collection of poems praising Adolf Hitler. We discovered the location of this hate mill thanks to the Southern Poverty Law Center's Hate Map and Counter-Currents' use of Comodo Site Secure which shows the verified address of the business.

As Heathens, San Franciscans, and human beings we are outraged by the presence of this mouthpiece for backward, bigoted beliefs in the city. The very real harm their customers have done to the people of our city, from the Western Addition to the Mission and O'Farrell Street, cannot be ignored.

We demand the immediate shutdown of Counter-Currents Publishing. Those people have flown under the public's radar for far too long spewing bigoted lies and preying on the fears of the downtrodden. We call on all of the people of San Francisco and the Bay Area to non-violently oppose, resist, and defeat these hatemongers.

These people are publishing books, not organizing rallies or intimidating immigrants and people of color. It would be one thing if they were denying the rights of others. But to shut them down based solely on their ideas would itself be fascist and authoritarian.

I was wondering how long it would take for a real liberal to comment on this. Congratulations Concerned Citizen - and right there begins the trouble - one epitomizing the incoherence of a liberal. First off, a citizen is a person who is created as an object of circumscribed and imposed belonging; the state decides who it wants as a citizen, that is, a legally recognized (and therefore saddled with all sorts of involuntary obligations) being, who is forced to be loyal to the ideology of a given polity wherever s/he happens to reside. A "concerned citizen" is someone who is forced to face the inherent contradictions of living in a class-based society, finding the path of least resistance (because a citizen is not a dissident except in the most extreme cases), the path of propriety and good manners. The liberal, to paraphrase Sartre, is the fool who generously extends freedom to the enemies of freedom. Or to paraphrase Voltaire, the concerned citizen is the one who disagrees with ideas s/he finds abhorrent, but who will fight to the death for the right of the asshole who holds them. Hence we arrive at the idiocy of citizenship and liberalism. The neo-nazi scum who promote the vitriol that is certainly at least partially directed at you as a complacent law-abiding middle-class do-gooder have no interest in polite debate or reasonable discussion. They adhere to the poisonous ideals of institutionalized authoritarianism and brutality masquerading as law and order. You can whine about how sad it makes you feel that there are people who understand the menace and threat posed by fascists - because you would be happy to employ those very fascist tactics and policies if your precious citizenship were challenged by a radical social movement. By all means, use the laws of citizenship to counter the excesses of the scum who want a stronger state (and what cop wouldn't want more impunity? Please see how much support the Greek Golden Dawn cretins have among the Greek police...), but you had better not stand in the way of the indignation of working class, poor, gender variant, feminist, and radical people who know better than you what these fascist assholes represent, and who will take the appropriate action(s) to make them know they are unwelcome.

...is the demand. Demanding that they be shut down. By who? Them? They won't! By the government? How absurd. It would violate the First Amendment. And besides the g'ment likes these racist assholes around just in case they can't stop real freedom fighters. So rather than making silly demands, why don't people attempt to shut these white supremacists down. There are many ways to do direct action to do so. Just do it.
