Sheriff Mirkarimi Reinstated; Labor Prevails

by Power to the People
Labor prevailed in the litmus test vote at the San Francisco Board of Supervisors on October 9, 2012 to reinstate Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi with 4 of 11 votes, with Christina Olague (District 5 Fillmore and Haight-Ashbury), Jane Kim (District 6 Tenderloin, South of Market), David Campos (District 9 Mission, Bernal Heights) and John Avalos (District 11 Excelsior, Ingleside) when the capitalist class mayor Ed Lee needed 9 of the 11 votes to prevail.

The most notable character of the 200 plus speakers at the public comment before the vote was workingclass, and there were at least 4 speakers representing labor who reminded the supervisors that it is the San Francisco Central Labor Council, which supported the reinstatement of Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi, that provides campaign workers to most of their campaigns. All 4 of the supervisors who voted to reinstate Sheriff Mirkarimi need the workingclass vote to stay in office.

Victory, Victory is our cry, THE CLASS STRUGGLE IS THE REASON WHY.

Since when is getting a cop reinstated in the capitalist injustice system synonymous with class struggle?

YOU WILL SEE AND HEAR THE WORKINGCLASS DEMAND THAT SHERIFF ROSS MIRKARIMI BE REINSTATED. That is because Sheriff Mirkarimi is for restorative justice instead of punishment and wants to do what he can to stop evictions. He made his reputation as Supervisor of District 5, the Fillmore-Haight Ashbury, by bringing down the crime rate with his program. Ross Mirkarimi was also a founding member of the California Green Party (he just recently changed to Democrat) and was active on the public power campaigns in San Francisco against PG&E's private profiteering monopoly. He has also proudly defended Iranian immigrants and Iranian-American immigrants from the US war machine and proposed political attacks by the current District Attorney, a former Republican turned Democrat to get elected, an anti-Communist Cuban, George Gascon. Ross Mirkarimi is of Iranian Moslem (father) and Russian Jewish (mother) descent.
Democratic Mayor Ed Lee, endorsed by the Republian Party (Republicans are about 17% of the active voters in San Francisco) is a proud member of the election fraud machine made famous by former Mayor Willie Brown in 1997 in the 49er Stadium Swindle election and every election thereafter, including that of Mayor Ed Lee in November 2011. This writer is not a Democrat-Republican and did not vote for anyone for sheriff, but now that he successfully defeated this vicious political frame-up by the capitalist class, which phony charges were brought by election fraud Mayor Ed Lee, I will certainly do what I can to help his re-election, at least vote for him. ELECTION FRAUD IS FACISM and Mayor Ed Lee is now perpetrating a reign of terror in all city departments, by definition anti-labor, against all who disagree with him and his real estate profiteering cronies. The reinstatement of Sheriff Mirkarimi represents a major defeat of the election fraud machine, and we have just begun to fight as election fraud mayor Ed Lee is still in office and so are his supporters on the Board of Supervisors.
