The Occupy Bernal Education Workgroup, inspired and encouraged by the audience at the August 4 Education program, has formed and will host a monthly meeting book club exploring the nature of debt, real estate, and foreclosure. We'll meet the last Wednesday of each month, 7-8:30 pm in the lower room of the Bernal Heights branch library on Cortland Avenue.

Our guest speaker at the August 4 program, Paul Neal, is a real estate agent who described the market dynamics (including the speculator's effect on the market)on residential real estate in San Francisco. Paul recommended two titles to us, and the sense in the room was that a reading group would be a progressive step.

We have selected Paul's first suggested title, "Greenspan's Fraud" by Ravi Batra as our first read. It is available through the SFPL, probably on line, and from your favorite bookseller.

We will read approximately 100 pages each month, rounding up to the end of the nearest chapter, and discuss in round table fashion.

Our inaugural meeting is August 29 7-8:30 pm in the Bernal Heights branch library.

An RSVP to info [at] TheCommonsSF.org would be appreciated, but is not necessary.
