Arab Spring Year Two:
Secular democratic popular movements, political Islam, and neocolonial states

Optional potluck: 4:30 pm
Program: 5:30 pm

How do we understand multi-polar conflicts among repressive nationalist states, popular democratic movements, private capital, and political Islam? This and other questions will be discussed by Dr. Sharat Lin, president of the San Jose Peace & Justice Center. Analyst/writer Lin was in Egypt during its “Arab Spring” uprising and during its recent elections. He spent 5 years living in the Middle East and has travelled extensively throughout the Middle East, Pakistan, and India. Dr. Lin writes on geopolitics, labor, public health, South Asian and Middle Eastern affairs for a variety of print and on-line media.

Public is invited; donations welcome.
