Shutdown Telegraph Ave for Obama Fundraiser in Oakland at the Fox Theater
Date Monday July 23
Time 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Location Details
Fox Theater in downtown Oakland
1807 Telegraph Ave
Event Type Protest
Organizer/AuthorLee Barb
Please join me in unwelcoming President Obama to our district on Monday, July 23rd! He will be spending the whole day in the East Bay, with a campaign reception at the Fox Theater in downtown Oakland that begins at 4:30pm.

Won’t you consider joining us at this exciting event, inside or out?

Perhaps vehicular traffic could be shut down on Telegraph Avenue and surrounding streets prior to the scheduled fundraising gala. There's no helicopter pad on top of the Fox Theater from which to sneak in the president.

Tickets are not cheap, but perhaps money could be pooled to get nonviolent civil disobedience disrupters inside:
- $1,000.00 VIP Seating, Per person
- $7,500.00 Event Sponsor, Includes photo reception + general reception
- $2,500.00 Additional Photo Reception Participants, Per additional guest for photo reception

You can reserve tickets here:

I hope you’ll be able to come out, so we can give our President a real East Bay unwelcome, and let him know we're not happy that he does not have our backs when the big banks foreclose our homes, corporations are allowed to pollute and leave brown fields behind, neighborhood schools are being closed, the police kill people of color with no accountability, OPD kicks the shit out of peaceful protesters, and the feds are raiding our cannabis clubs. The time is now. This is our big chance.

Spread the word and form an affinity group to do your part now!

Rather than polemicizing Democrats against Republicans, we need to be choosing right over wrong. Massive criminal actions cannot be excused by platitudes from Obama.

Who can I contact to help sponsor this protest?

The President is not king and has to overcome numerous obstacles to change social problems with the help of the people. that's what a democracy is all about. A protest like this also falls into the hands of the Right-wing republicans and Tea Party people who also works with radical right-wingers who want to get rid of the Constitution and turn the U.S. into a fascist state. You can't equate Bush with Obama. Bush would've NEVER made a move to stop deporting illegal immigrants, but Obama did. They are not the same. This is not a good event.

There is no excuse for any disgruntle group not to be there such Native people for Obombma opening up the Artic Circle and XL pipeline. Migrants not immigrants for deporting 1.4 million native peoples as we did not cross the borders the borders crossed us. African Americans for not giving the forty acres and a mule. Labor unions for the constant attack on labor through state and city govts. And enerybody else who is not a bankster exe or KKKorporate who got bailed out with our money with no penalty for anybody on Wall Street. Time to Wake up to the game Obombma is Dick Cheney's blood cousin.

Look at the facebook event page to see who created the event on facebook. It was Micheal 1st and a Mohammed. Micheal 1st has numerous ties to the military. See his profile.

Obama and the democrats make concessions, but the republicans want to TAKE IT ALL AWAY. There are profound differences between Romney and Obama. Obama is far from perfect, but Obama & democrats will buy us time while we organize. if they take away ALL our freedoms... social & economic... you won't even have the resources to fight back.

The Democrats want you to be believe that Obama is better than Romney, (and he is minisculely), so they say don't protest Obama. Obama is unacceptable because of the things he promised to do and didn't do (get rid of torture, close Guantanamo, not allow healthcare to be controlled by insurance companies) and the things he has done (continued the war in Afghanistan, drones all over the place, keep up coal and oil shale pollution, support the capitalist system which causes unemployment).

But we are also being played by those who want us to fund Obama by giving him a hell of a lot of money and then getting dragged out of the hall. Oakland is our town. We should know how too blockade the Fox Theatre and create disturbance and chaos without giving the OH-bomb-uh campaign money. Direct action gets the goods but we should never fund the enemies coffers.

How does blockading the Fox Theatre prevents money from flowing into the politicians coffers? That does not even make sense. Trying to blockade the Fox Theatre is futile because the streets will be blocked off with a huge police force with Secret Service etc… and all you have are some trash cans etc . Have you learned nothing from the disaster called "Move-in Day" when the police was waiting for everyone? You're being led to slaughter.

And once you get arrested, you will fund the enemies coffers. Bail, lawyers, etc. They get your money. This is a protest for chumps. The 12pm rally to save Harborside is legit. The protest against Obama to scapegoat him for all of our ills is not legit. Just about all the problems were started before Obama got into office. The enemies are the right-wingers, free market Libertarians, Ron Paul the racist pig and the numerous radical right-wingers who also want to overthrow our democracy and put in a fascist system with no restraints on capitalist activity. You can bet there will be racist/fascist Ron Paul supporters in this protest and people on the left will say nothing about it. You're basically doing the work of the fascists who want to get rid of all restraints on capitalism; and when that happens and they clamp down, you won't even be able to go out into the streets to protest.

So now what? With people arrested, we now have to use our resources and get these people off. The cops and the powers that be make money off of you.

One of them arrested has a stay away order which pushes him further into the criminal justice system. People stay away orders should not have come, but the organizers for this event were more interested in promoting their own errant ideology than "de-arresting" one of our own.

This type of event plays into the hands of the Republicans. The left who vote will vote for Barack and will NOT vote for Romney. Which is why if people do not vote, it's a vote for Romney, a pro-austerity antidemocratic unrestrained capitalist. that's how it works. that's how politics works.

Do vote in November during the Presidential elections. Don't vote for a 3rd party as we do not have the numbers to win. Winning is everything. Obama is not our "last hope". Voting for Obama will simply buy us time to organize and build the numbers so we can win.
