The event will consist of a presentation by the author, Javier Sethness-Castro followed by a participatory discussion regarding the issues raised in the work.

Imperiled Life theorizes an exit from the potentially terminal consequences of capital-induced climate change. The work is a collection of reflections on the phenomenon of catastrophe— climatological, political, social—as well as on the possibilities of overcoming disaster.

By means of an appraisal of the current state of the Earth's climate and of the possible futures that would be impelled by further climate destabilization, the book clearly states that dramatic revolutionary transformation must be had in the near term if humanity and life itself are to have something of a chance to flourish in light of the ongoing climate crisis. It offers the alternative of an “ecological anarcho-communism” at the close of the work.

Combining reportage from the 2010 Cancún climate negotiations with investigations into historical and contemporary anti-systemic thought and praxis, Imperiled Life seeks to promote critical thought and action as means of overturning prevailing trends and thus changing our historical trajectory.

Title no. 4 in the Anarchist Interventions series (AK Press/Institute for Anarchist Studies).
