Retired Grocery Workers Picket Raleys
Pittsburg, Ca 4/3/12 -- Retired grocery workers picketed Raleys, asking the community to support them in their fight to keep their health coverage. Video (7:04)
Raleys wants to eliminate health insurance for retirees in its new contract with UFCW Local 5, as well as cut back on health coverage and wages for workers. Safeway and Save Mart, which owns Lucky and Foodmax stores, are also negotiating with Local 5 and demanding the same givebacks. OccupyConcord came out in solidarity, bringing picket signs and collecting pledges of support from customers.
