This week's class focuses on "Blacks and the unfinished Freedom Struggle" and the militant history of African American workers and their critical place as leaders in the movements for social justice.
Overcoming Racism: A Radical Approach is a public class exploring whether or not racial conflict is inevitable or a product of social and economic conditions that can be understood and changed. Works by writers of color, feminists and radicals will be used to explore these questions. Participants will also learn about the vanguard role of people of color in social justice movements and the challenges and rewards of organizing across color lines. The class goes from 7:00-8:30pm, with a light supper provided at 6:30pm for a $6 donation. There is a $2 donation requested per session. Location: New Valencia Hall, 747 Polk St., San Francisco (at Ellis St.) For more information or childcare, call 415-864-1278. Sponsored by Radical Women and Freedom Socialist Party.
