4/3 SF CWA Video/Panel "Activist Blogger: The Josh Wolf Story" A video and panel discussion on Wolf's jailing for upholding the principle of an independent Fourth Estate

The Pacific Media Workers Guild* Freelance Unit presents:

"Activist Blogger: The Josh Wolf Story,"
a video and panel discussion on Wolf's jailing for upholding the principle of an independent Fourth Estate.

Tuesday, April 3, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Latino/Hispanic Meeting Room of the Main Library, 100 Larkin St., San Francisco.
Free admission. Snack buffet.

Wolf spent 226 days, mostly in solitary confinement, at the federal detention center in Dublin between August 2006 and April 2007 for refusing to surrender raw video footage and give testimony to a federal grand jury regarding violent incidents at an anarchists' rally in July 2005.

The issues that the episode underscores, including the need for a federal Shield Law and the question of who qualifies as a journalist, are still with us.

Invited panelists are Wolf; Donna Lee, the video's producer; veteran First Amendment attorney James Wheaton; and political cartoonist Susie Cagle, who was arrested twice at Occupy demonstrations in Oakland.

Please help spread the word on this event.
