March 7th Non-Violence Training, March 11th MARCH to Stop Foreclosures!
Urge To Action!
Hello Concerned Citizens:
The powerful mobilization of Santa Cruz citizens can be exemplary once again. Join us in our efforts of strengthening our progressive team work. There will be a PEACEFUL, non-violent March to support victim's of foreclosure, educate the participants on predatory bank lending strategies, unmask the fraud, and urge Sheriff Wowak to refuse to evict foreclosed upon individual's. It will take place on Sunday, March 11th beginning at 1pm on the Courthouse Steps on Water St.
On March 7th at 5pm there will be a non-violence training held on the courthouse steps on Water St. It will be led by some wonderful people from the Resource Center for Non-Violence.
There will be a moderator training and meditation a half hour before the March. The March will comprise of a performance from the Raging Grannies, St. Theatre, Robbie & Friends (Musician? Drummer? Megaphone? email: oscforeclosuregroup [at] gmail.com).We will utilize mic-check during our pit stops at the banks with inspirational speakers in order to emphasize the power of our personhood. There will be signs, chants, and drums accompanying us on the March.
The Occupy Santa Cruz Foreclosure Working Group is teaming with organizers including but not limited to members of WILPF, Brown Berets, Occupy Monterey, Occupy Cabrillo, and the UCSC General Assembly in the fight against foreclosure fraud. The goal of this March is to make alliances with a multiplicity of individual's and organizations within our local community to stand in solidarity with national efforts. As you may notice there are several examples of injustice in our world. We have the chance to peacefully organize the masses in Santa Cruz. A plethora of local institutions are working on their own moratorium for foreclosures. Our working group is focused on creating a united front for this endeavor.
If you're interested or knowledgeable in the field of foreclosures we hold meetings every Saturday at 4pm. Find out more information at http://www.oscforeclosures.org. Feel free to email oscforeclosuregroup [at] gmail.com with any questions, comments, or statements of support. Distribute this email and flyers abundantly.
In solidarity,
