This is the first Watsonville Film Festival and hope it will become an annual event. This film festival is significant because it showcases work by and about various community members in Watsonville. All films will be bilingual and they will tell common but powerful narratives that are seldom heard. We are hoping the festival will bring solidarity and understanding between people as well as educate them.Added to the calendar on Friday Feb 24th, 2012 11:44 AM
This year, On the Same Page is conducting workshops on the films so that parents as well as students could discuss the significance of the films and what they think about them. This is to promote educated discussions about issues.
The idea originated as a way to showcase student films that were made during a summer outreach program at UCSC run by the Global Information Internship Program in collaboration with Watsonville TEC. Only one of the those films will be showcased this year. As more people became involved and the idea grew, it turned into a bigger project to raise social awareness and has gained the support of many community partners.
Tickets are $5 and benefit Watsonville TEC
