The story of legendary Earth First! organizer and car-bomb victim Judi Bari is told in a dramatic a 93-minute documentary Who Bombed Judi Bari?, produced by her eco-cohort Darryl Cherney, and directed by Mary Liz Thomson. The film was created entirely from archival footage including Bari’s inspirational speeches, colorful and daring redwood protests plus a musical appearance by Bonnie Raitt.

Who Bombed Judi Bari? is largely narrated by Judi Bari herself, though she died of breast cancer in 1997, using footage from her deathbed legal testimony for her civil rights lawsuit against the FBI and Oakland Police. In 2002, a federal jury found 3 FBI agents and 3 Oakland officers guilty of violating Bari and Cherney’s Constitutional rights in order to silence them. With only weeks left to live, Bari tells her life story while the movie flashes back and forward to illustrate the events she describes.

The producer and director and many of Judi's friends will be present.

"Who Bombed Judi Bari? is a MUST SEE. My father was Luis Buñuel's favorite producer and grew up around the Hollywood Ten, so I like to believe I know a good film when I see one. The story telling is compelling and poetic, the message(s), powerful and inspiring. There need to be more films about earth-shaking women like Judi and successful movements by film-makers as talented and uncompromising as Mary Liz Thomson! Before global warming permeated popular consciousness, Earth First! Co-founders Judi Bari and Darryl Cherney popularized protests against clear-cutting in the 1980's. On May 24th, 1990 in Oakland, California, a bomb exploded in union-organizer Judi Bari’s car and she suffered debilitating injuries alongside Cherney. "Who Bombed Judi Bari?," a new compelling and poetic documentary film directed by Mary Liz Thomson and produced by Cherney, explores attempts by the FBI and Oakland Police to accuse Bari of planting the bomb herself and the subsequent lawsuit against those agencies who tried to silence the environmentalists. The film offers a surprising and uplifting resolution: in 2002, a federal jury found that 3 FBI agents and 3 Oakland officers were guilty of violating Bari and Cherney's civil rights and ordered the law enforcement agencies to pay $4.4 million. Yet, like the killing of J.F.K, the film reveals an unsolved mystery: who then, is the actual bomber of Judi Bari? In 2011, their legal team secured a stop order preventing the FBI from destroying evidence that could contain the bomber's DNA and ordering it turned over to an independent lab for testing. The FBI is appealing the order.
