Sesquicentennial of the Emancipation Proclamation in the State of California ~ Planning Document
January 1, 2012, the Stockton Black Leadership Council hosted an 8th Annual Emancipation Celebration and Freedom Day Parade in Stockton, California. A wonderful sunshine filled day and clear crisp evening marks the formal planning for Sesquicentennial of the Emancipation Proclamation in the State of California.
The California Black Farmers and Agriculturalist Association formally joins a nationwide effort to commemorate historic events with appropriate programs and activities that highlight our African contribution to the #1 U.S. Agriculture industry and amazing contributions expanding global cultural exchange in preparation for Emancipation Proclamation events, globally.
Michael Harris, Asst. Project Director, continues to gather nationwide tools and resources for the organization of a Sesquicentennial of the Emancipation Proclamation State of California Planning Committee with top eye toward identifying and coordinating interfaith diverse cooperation that values inter-generational learning and leadership.
Local, Regional and/or National Celebrations.
Professional Lectures and Collegiate Symposium.
Collaboration with various national, state and local agencies, progressive congressional, legislative, county and city elected officials, historical societies, and business professional, community, and faith-based organizations with demonstrated support for embracing diversity and inclusive historical exhibits, creative expression and culinary art programs.

Planning, identifying and obtaining essential primary source documentation is necessary to retain broad based support officially beginning January 2012, toward successful official opening celebrations Tuesday, January 1, 2013, recognizing the Sesquicentennial signing of the Emancipation Proclamation by U.S. President Abraham Lincoln.
Global events and programing will highlight efforts toward expanding legal freedom for people of African descent and culminate with producing a major closing event celebrating California's ratification of the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, Saturday, December 19, 2015.
Engage students at public and private institutions of higher education in research and project management. Solicit partners to research and canvass the State of California to identify, locate and preserve cemeteries and grave markers of early pioneers active in the quest for a greater measure of freedom.
Engage corporate and government partners to assist in a yearlong education, public relations and public events to recognize the Sesquicentennial of the Emancipation Proclamation in the State of California.
