On Wed., Dec. 21, Occupy Oakland voted by over 98% to support the Longview action, and to arrange for buses to take people up there, to help out the Longview organizers. It was announced that they're hoping 1,000 people from the Bay Area can go up to Longview then -- to hopefully join about 20,000 others that they're hoping will be able to turn out. Here is the Occupy Oakland proposal and record of the vote:

Proposal: Proposal to support the EGT Grain Ship arrival Action
***EGT Grain Ship Arrival – Call to Action by Occupy Longview Washington***
Occupy Longview (Washington) has put out a call to action to block the EGT grain ship expected to arrive in Longview mid-January. There has already been discussion between occupies in various cities to caravan here to Longview, WA for the purpose of blocking this ship.
We, Occupy Oakland, endorse this call and stand ready to help with the planning and coordinating to make this action successful. Occupy Oakland’s port shutdown working group / labor solidarity committee will continue to meet and will help promote this action through the west coast network we developed for D12. We join Longview in calling out to all occupies, from New York City down to Florida, all the way through to the West Coast, to join us in solidarity.
What Longview needs:
1) Numbers! We need to have a large turn-out. We need your bodies!
2) Media coordination/help
3) Finances/donated funds from larger occupies (for buses, housing
early arrivers, etc.)
4) Suggest a coordinated Inter-Occupy Group/Conference Call(s) (nationwide) specifically for this action.

PROPOSALS
1. Emergency Proposal to Support the EGT Grain Shipment Action: This concerns a shipment due to arrive in Longview in MidJanuary. There has been discussion between occupies to caravan to Longview. We would like to support this action through the network we have already created.
Clarifying Questions
Where would these funds come from? – This is only an endorsement. There is no finance component. Any finance would be introduced later at another GA.
Pros/Cons
+ Solidarity is important.
+The Longshoremen shut down the ports and held a rally in support of justice for Oscar Grant. If the EGT is not stopped, it will destroy the whole ILWU, the most militant union.
+We are independent of republicans and democrats.
Vote Results

We ask that tens of thousands travel to Longview to join us and make this action the central action for January 2012. Let's kick off 2012! Join us in Solidarity!

By adding nine ships to its fleet, STX Pan Ocean will have a private fleet totaling 84 ships as of the end of September, including 50 bulk carriers, 20 tankers, eight container ships, four car carriers, LNG carriers and a heavy transport vessel. Including chartered ships, STX Pan Ocean is operating approximately 380 ships.

STX Pan Ocean will promate its grain termianl business at Longview Port in the western region of the USA by establishing a joint venture with Bunge Limited (a world leading grain major) in the USA and ltochu Corporation in Japan on June 2. The investment in this joint venture is more than US$ 200 million, with the shareholding ratio of Bunge, Itochu and STX Pan Ocean being 51%, 29% and 20% respectively. With this investment, this joint venture will complete the construction of storage facilities, railways, quays, unloading facilities, etc. and will be capable of handing more than eight million tons of grain annually by the autumn of 2011. This terminal is the first to be constructed in the western region of the USA since the beginning of 1980's, and will be equipped with a faster logistics processing speed than existing terminals. AS a result, it is expected that Bunge and ltochu will be able to concentrate their efforts on the further expansion of exports with more efficient grain processing, while STX Pan Ocean will see a rise in profits due to the increased volume of transportation. As a shipping company participating in the overseas grain terminal business for the first time- a sector traditionally operated by major grain companies including Cargill and Bunge, as well as general trading companies in Japan- STX Pan Ocean will be able to reinforce its grain transportation business and improve the efficiency of its shipping operations to and from the western region of the USA, thus strengthening its customer service.
