Film Showing & Discussion: Incident at Oglala The Leonard Peltier Story

World renowned political prisoner Leonard Peltier has been serving a double life sentence for 35 years. Peltier was a member of American Indian Movement. AIM was targeted for infiltration by the FBI and subjected to COINTELPRO, a program directed against progressive political groups.

The documentary Incident at Oglala examines the events in the summer of 1975 on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota that led to the killing of two FBI agents and a Native American. Two people charged with killing the FBI agents were acquitted. But Peltier, who was later tried separately, was convicted of murder. During the trial, the government intimidated witnesses and withheld evidence. Join us for watching Incident at Oglala and a discussion of the Native American struggle against racism today and the legacy of centuries of genocide and oppression. Film Showing & Discussion
