POLICE CLAIM THAT TWO PROTESTERS ATTACKED POLICE OFFICERS.

No evidence of such attacks has come to light, nor have any witnesses
turned up after an extensive OccupySF investigation involving
Communications, Media, Nonviolence, and Direct Action teams,
including numerous interviews and the review of large amounts of video footage.

OccupySF members only report seeing a woman fall down,
inadvertently hitting a police officer with her sign as she fell.

POLICE CLAIM THAT THEIR VIOLENT SHOVING OF PROTESTORS
WAS MADE IN AN ATTEMPT TO KEEP MARCHERS OFF THE CENTRAL MEDIAN.

This is false. The police were engaged in continually trying to flank the
marchers and force them off the road and onto the sidewalk, which they succeeded in doing at one point in the march.

For more than a month OccupySF has marched nonviolently each Saturday in the streets without problems or interference from the SFPD. For the last 25 years it has been standard and accepted practice for protests to march in the streets and the SFPD has not interfered, nor has it routed traffic.
...............

OccupySF operates under a consensus of nonviolence.

OccupySF does not recognize violent behavior as part of the movement.

OccupySF has an active program of nonviolence including an
in-camp
peacekeeping team,
as well as a recently formed peacekeeping team for marches and other events, the “blue bloc.”

OccupySF is in the process of bringing in outside groups to provide more formalized training in nonviolence for all OccupySF members, including members of the nonviolence teams.
