Zuccotti Park NYC/OWS Report
Report from the Occupation of Wall Street encampment in New York City.
Warm spiritual greetings, The encampment is challenging for many reasons. We had a rainstorm two nights ago, it is windy most of the time where we are in lower Manhattan, NYPD encircles us 24/7, outside elements arrive at night and cause trouble, and the City of New York refuses to allow port-o-potties, or do anything which encourages the Occupation of Wall Street encampment in Zuccotti Park. That said, our general feeling is that we are representing an important historical dissent against the decisions made on the top floors of the financial district in New York City! Michael Moore came by and spoke last night, thanking us for hanging tough in the encampment, the Zapatistas sent a message of solidarity, and we are visited daily by unions and peace & justice groups who are in solidarity. Continuously throughout the day and into the night, an ongoing protest message is put forth by New Yorkers who show up with a lengthy list of concerns. There is a constant media presence of companies of various sizes, plus independent groups. The cameras are going all of the time.
The encampment is divided into working groups. If you show up, check in with the info table first, eat a free meal, speak with the various working groups, find your niche, and you are involved. Please understand that under difficult circumstances we are doing the best that we can. You are cordially invited to join with us.
