Lily Yeh, artist and peace activist, is most noted for transforming a derelict inner-city neighborhood in North Philadelphia into The Village of Arts and Humanities. Recently returned from Palestine, Yeh has traveled to Rwanda, and Haiti as well as other conflict zones, and has recently published her first book, Awakening Creativity, on the transformation of a Beijing school through cooperative art. Yeh will discuss the "Art of Nonviolence: Community Healing and Transformation" in an event co-hosted by the Metta Center for Nonviolence, New Village Press and St John's Episcopal Church.
