by Labor Video Project
Wednesday Oct 5th, 2011 9:53 PM
TWU 250 A operators blasted the MTA and Muni for failure to protect the health and safety conditions of drivers and the public while also stealing money from their trustee fund to use for the $1.5 billion tunnel project to Chinatown. They were joined by Terry Baum a candidate for Mayor and Howard Wong, past president of IFPTE Local 21.
On 10/4/2011 at Union Square in San Francisco next to the construction of the MTA Muni Central Tunnel, a press conference was called by Terry Baum a candidate for SF Mayor to call for the shutdown of the Tunnel project. The $1.5
billion dollar project is even opposed by the Wall Street Journal as a boondoggle. Two TWU 250 A operators attacked the tunnel and pointed out that Mayor Ed Lee and the MTA MUNI management is failing to protect the health and safety of the present bus and rail system. Dorian Maxwell and Chris Coghlan have both made OSAH and health and safety complaints about the condition of the buses and trains and have been retaliated against. Also Howard Wong, past president of IFPTE Local 21 and Save Muni spoke about the real nature of the project. More video at
