Ex-Police Officer Requests Probe of Bassler Killing
Though Ken Good does not feel much sympathy for Bassler, he said he was "worried that police could decide in the field that someone was going to die. And I believe they went out that day with every intention of killing him."

Ex-Police Officer Requests Probe of Bassler Killing
by Dave Gurney
An ex-police officer from Mendocino County California has requested the F.B.I. to investigate the recent shooting of double murder suspect Aaron Bassler.
In a broadcast interview on KMUD radio Monday, Oct. 3, Ken Good said that "having been a police officer and taken training, I don't expect officers to take fire, or to put themselves in danger."
But he said the three man Sacramento kill-squad was in a safe position, concealed from Bassler, when he came into their gunsights from 40 yards away. They shot him.
Mr. Good said he was hoping to hear Sheriff Tom Allman explain at an Oct 1 press conference the "the officers identified, said 'Bassler you're under arrest, put your gun down,' the weapon started to come up, and they shot him…which is probably what would have happened, had they given him that option."
Though Ken Good does not feel much sympathy for Bassler, he said he was "worried that police could decide in the field that someone was going to die. And I believe they went out that day with every intention of killing him."
According to Cynthia Elkins of KMUD News, "Good believes we have an obligation to grant people a trial as part of our Constitutional rights. But he thinks officers never planned to try to arrest Bassler. Instead, he thinks they had already determined that Bassler was not going to make it out of this alive."
