Calling all liberals, libertarians, socialists, anarchists and Marxists!
Interested in Marxian literature but do not know where to start, or are discontented with existing political groups? This introductory meet and greet will consist of a brief presentation explaining Platypus, its various activities, and its history; the presentation will be followed by time for question and answers, and discussion with all those in attendance about the future direction of Platypus in the Bay Area.
Platypus is a project for political education and clarification of and on the Left, based on university campuses in North America, Europe and South Asia. We think that the Left can no longer afford to use the "Right" as a cover for its own failures, and that activism alone -- however urgent and necessary -- is not sufficient for real social change. Instead, Platypus focuses on discussing and debating the long history of the Left in order to make sense of its ultimate failures and the desiccated remains that we confront today.
What has the Left been, and what can it yet become?
Help us build a campus conversation around these questions.
