Location Details

Event Type Critical Mass

Be part of Moving Planet: a worldwide rally to demand solutions to the climate crisis. Join the movement away from fossil fuels and participate in any or all of these events:

Morning Bike Ride in Berkeley (9am - 11:15am): Kick off the day with a ride co-sponsored by the East Bay Bike Coalition, Transition Berkeley, and Ecology Center. Enjoy complementary coffee and bagels at the downtown Bike Station, then ride through the streets of Berkeley to show our support for the bicycle and other sustainability solutions. We'll visit Lorin Station, site of an inspiring city project and listen to some great local music. We'll wrap up the bike ride at Ashby BART, where we'll gather with others and head to SF.

Ashby BART Meet-up/Travel to SF (11:15am): Join with other East Bay folks as we make our way to the San Francisco mobilization, celebrating alternative transit as we travel! Bring your bike, skates, boards, and wheelchairs. Come with your neighbors and your friends, your family and your co-workers. Bring rally signs and other visuals -- including costumes! -- calling for an end to fossil fuels.

Rally and Parade in Downtown SF (12pm - 3pm): Gather with thousands of community members from around the Bay building momentum toward a fossil-fuel free future through art, creativity and alternatives. Start in Justin Herman Plaza and parade down Market St. toward Civic Center Plaza. End the procession (but not the movement!) in Civic Center with speakers including Bill McKibben, co-founder of 350.org, and Mike Brune, Executive Director of the Sierra Club, info tables, music and dancing, food and drinks, art projects, science experiments, and much more!

Cost: Free.
