Defend Korean JeJu Island Community Members & Stop The Naval Base
On September 2, 2011 at the Korean Consulate in San Francisco protesters
spoke out against the police attack on JeJu Island community activists and the arrest
of leaders who are organizing against the establishment of a naval military base
that would despoil the environment. The base which is part of the US militarization
of the region threatens the lives of the fisherman and farmers in JeJu island which
is also a UNESCO natural protected site. The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions
and other unions have also joined protests to prevent this base from being established.
