Bay Area Moving Planet on Sept. 24th

Hey Bay Area movers and shakers, want to play a major role in the fight against climate change? On September 24th, 350.org is partnering with N.O.W. San Francisco to find peace through sustainability during a worldwide day of action called Moving Planet: A Day to Move Beyond Fossil Fuels, and we need you! We’ll come together by foot, bike, public transportation, and skateboard to show our leaders that we’re serious about a fossil-fuel-free future.

Here in the Bay Area, the plan is for participants to gather in every city in the morning and travel together to Justin Hermann Plaza in San Francisco by 12 PM for our Mega-Massive Moving Planet Mobilization. Groups from around the Bay Area will build community through art, creativity and movement as they rally down Market St. toward Civic Center Plaza. We will end the procession (but not the movement!) with an afternoon of speakers (such as Bill McKibben, co-founder of 350.org, and Mike Brune, Executive Director of the Sierra Club), tabling and outreach opportunities, music and dancing, food and drinks, and so much more!

Our message and action will be focused on SB 375, the Sustainable Communities and Climate Protection Act of 2008 that is designed to help communities work together to reach the 2020 greenhouse gas emissions reduction goal set by AB 32, the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006.
