Dear Radio Friend,

(If you have access to Audioport there is a highest quality version posted up there {27MB} http://www.audioport.org/index.php?op=producer-info&uid=904&nav=&)

This week's show features stories from Spanish National Radio, the Voice of Russia, Radio Deutsche-Welle, Radio Havana Cuba, and NHK World Radio Japan..
From SPAIN- Police in India arrested 1300 people protesting the arrest of an anti-corruption activist. The trial of Egypt's former President Mubarak is moving along in Cairo. Prime Minister Cameron says he wants to tackle Britain's broken society.
From RUSSIA- A commentary comparing the UK riots with the ones in San Francisco and the so-called "Arab Uprising." This piece was aired before BART officials admitted that they had intentionally shut down cell phone service to inhibit the demonstration.
From GERMANY- Many find that the prison sentences being given to demonstrators in the UK riots as abnormal and likely to stoke the resistance rather than control it. British Parliamentarians published evidence that senior figures, including Rupert Murdoch, were aware of the phone hacking practices used at the now defunct News Of The World.
From CUBA- The opposition parties in Venezuela have been illegally given more than $100 million from the US, including $5 million from the White House this past February. Leaders of the student movement in Chile stated that they will not back down from their demands, including that the state administers and finances public education, and the end of money making in the educational system. US drone attacks continue to escalate in Pakistan. Richard Clarke, former advisor on terrorism at the White House, has accused former CIA director George Tenet of harboring the terrorists who attacked the World Trade Center on Sept 11 2001.
From JAPAN- NHK produced a daily segment this week on the various types of renewable energy being successfully used around the planet. This segment covers the use of wind power in Germany which is scheduled to completely eliminate nuclear power in 2022.

I was interviewed for an informative weekly radio show Mediageek, available at http://radio.mediageek.net

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
NEW TIME SLOT on KZYX! This program will be aired on Sunday afternoon at 4pm (PDST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via < http://www.kzyx.org >
There are several other streams that work better- < http://www.freakradio.org >Freak Radio Santa Cruz now streams this program on Friday at 9:00am.(PDST)
NEWLY CORRECTED!!! The Shortwave Report may be downloaded as a podcast from < feed://radio.indymedia.org/en/podcast?keys=shortwave++

I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt! (maybe a little)

Next time some foreign bogeyman comes around for a state visit, the "Facebook" ruling may make him play monkey anytime the clueless man in London talks about human rights of foreign dissidents. Apparently a choice has been made what is more important to the regime, the mindless trashing of domestic dissent or the credibility to tell, let´s say, Ahmadinejad that such treacherous repression against political activists is generally unacceptable. It is part of the nature of information society that these two are mutually exclusive. To put it into perspective, when a Nazi in Germany is to be convicted for propaganda abuse, it needs to be proven that any pogrom or atmosphere therof was spawned. This case is not about an ideology of hatred but a rational counterattack against the too strong to change, but it would have to be dropped even under those criteria for lack of causal relation. Those guys may have been unaware or ignorant of the Wikileaks warnings against the Trojan website, but they do not deserve this evil repression. The bitter clinging to a moronic throne and an unaccountable cracker syndicate is a fertile ground for the Orwellesque relativism masquerading as moral absolutism which shines through e.g. in the weird fantasies of their politicians about Guantanamo style prisoner clothing. This ruling is the declaration of bankruptcy of a so-called human rights policy which based itself on the assumption that democracy was somehow more humane than other systems. With this being openly proven wrong in a whimsical rampage of a faltering regime against any notion of an European Spring, all which remains for it is denial going so deep that their politicians claim they knew what has gone wrong but expect to be believed without revealing what they think it was. The likewise contradictory nature of the court documents, which allege total insanity and full responsibility at the same time without any peer reviewed medical expertise, indicates that this may have been intended as a proxy attack not only against the innocent website users in the protests but first of all against something of which they don´t know what it is. Well, cash it isn´t for one, the lack of foreign sponsors of the movement that could be targeted strikes deafening. It could be a simple wisdom about insurrections that may have a great impact: When the people have lost the trust of the government, why doesn´t the government chose a new people?
