TOP-FREE WOMAN INSPIRES S.F. SLUT-WALKERS

San Francisco's first SlutWalk gathered in historic Dolores Park on Saturday afternoon,
6 August 2011, for a long rally on the central steps.
The crowd, overwhelmingly female and mostly young,
cheered for many speakers, including the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and
sex educator Carol Queen.
Eyes moistened when teen "Jane Doe", a recent victim of gang rape, spoke softly.
Self-defense experts demonstrated simple but effective ways to hurt attackers.
Each blow came with a loud shout of NO!

During the rally, several leaders stood up front, facing the crowd below.
These included a topfree short brown womon, whose chest was usually covered by her sign, PETA-style.
Later, during the march uphill, from the Latina/Latino Mission district to the Castro gayborhood,
she often held her sign high, inspiring the SlutWalkers by
bravely baring her breasts.

[Friendly SUGGESTIONS for future S.F. SlutWalks:

(A) Do this twice each year --
first during Spring Semester or Quarter,
seeking to involve college and university students;
and secondly, before each November election,
seeking to influence candidates.
(B) At rallies, present MORE live music and poetry;
less speeches.
(C) To raise money for feminist causes,
print a low-cut shirt bearing a quotable slogan;
or perhaps a SKIRT (wrap-around, so one size fits all?);
or even underpants
(which can be worn OVER
one's outer garments)..
