City of Berkeley to Give District 7 to UC Campus
In a stunning plan, the city council of Berkeley is working with the UC Berkeley ASUC to re-zone District 7 as a majority student district. This rezoning will push out the disabled, elderly and will essential hand over control of an entire city district to the UC, students, and the UC police. This is a further sign that non-students are not welcome in Berkeley, especially those from frail communities.

===================
As the city of Berkeley proposes new district lines ahead of the 2012 election, there is a unchallenged plan to give District 7 to the students so the UC population can have total political, social and economic control over a substantial portion of the city of Berkeley.
Kriss Worthington, who was once a Green Party member but has become a staunch Obama Democrat, is quoted as saying: "We are trying to figure out how to expand the student majority in District 7."
Since there are no plans for more housing construction in District 7, the only way to increase the student majority would be to remove the non-student population from their housing and replace tenants with students.
Worthington will be targeting the poor, the disabled, and the elderly - while not offering them any alternative for housing elsewhere.
The city council has been having many meetings with ASUC, but has held no meetings with the non-student population about the gifting of district 7 to the UC Regents and Students.

The frail and elderly have the same needs as students. Why is this an issue? They both need public transportation, affordable housing... This doesn't seem like a problem to me
The city of Berkeley has a bit of an identity crisis: Is it s real city, or a faux-environment build around a college campus?
Over 90% of the populace is not a Cal student. So why should a small minority have their own district?
It is divisive to say that one district of the city should be a super-majority student block when they don't even come close to being a super-majority of the populace.
It is BAD because it reinforces the idea that students should not participate and mingle with the general populace. Having their own district only furthers the student isolation from the general population, and further reinforces the fear students tend to have about the real world, and those who aren't one of their own.
Students are going to have to eventual merge with the rest of society. After high school, people do not need to be coddled in their own fantasy world seperate from the real one.
And what students going to do after they graduate? Are they going to demand that alumni have their own district? At some point students have to understand they are not children - they are adults. And they are not better or different from the other adults around them.
It makes students better neighbors and better citizens to participate in Berkeley culture, and not try to hide from everyone else.

This is just yet more proof that Boss Hogg U. regards the City of Berkeley as nothing other than its whore and that Kriss Worthlessness, like Obomber, is yet another phony liberal. It's especially disturbing when you consider what's happening w\ the University; being made into a country club for rich kids.
