Registration is now open for the Jane Addams Peace Camp, a one-week day camp where we foster an understanding of peace and justice through art, music, cooperative games, drama, stories and discussion. We use Non-Violent Communication concepts to learn peaceful strategies to meet our needs. This is our fifteenth year of Peace Camp here in Santa Cruz and is part of a peace camp movement around the world.
Peace Camp will be held at the beautiful rural Orchard School in Aptos, from Monday August 1st through Friday August 5th, 9am - 3 pm, for girls and boys entering grades 1-6, and youth leaders ages 12 – 17. Campers will spend part of their day in small groups by age, part of the day self-selecting from a variety of activity choices, and part of the day with the entire camp. There will be a staff of experienced counselors and volunteers; parents are welcome to participate by helping with transportation, cooking, and arts and crafts.
Cost for the week will be $150, which includes all supplies, snack and lunch; scholarships are available by request. For more information email: glitsky [at] aol.com or call Gaby Litsky at 462-9023.
Sponsored by Woman's International League for Peace and Freedom and private donations.
