Workers at Hotel Frank have been under attack since Wells Fargo foreclosed on the hotel in May, 2010. Wells Fargo brought in a new management company, Provenance, which refuses to recognize the UNITE HERE Local 2 contract, has not paid anything for medical coverage or pensions, has dangerously increased the workload for room cleaners and other workers, and has fired Union organizers.

The National Labor Relations Board recently prosecuted the hotel for violating federal labor laws, including firing and disciplining workers for engaging in Union activities.

This is a small hotel acting like a big bully.

by Boycotts usually don't work
I am not going urge anyone not to participate in this picket but for myself I would only spend the time and energy on a Strike picket line . A strike not a Open ended customer boycott that could take 1-2-5- 10 years ? IF successful at all. From my reading of Labor history such boycotts unless in soldarity with a strike almost never win.
I know that Mike Casey the head of Local 2 opposes strikes (other than symbolic one day actions ) and considers them to be ''unwinnable '' and ''old fashioned ''.
I think the reality is that he and most other labor leaders dont have the political courage to do what it takes to win a strike .
So they urge workers to keep on working and not walk out but instead shout at (usually ) upper middle class tourists and businessmen and women and appeal to their ''non existant '' class solidarity with the low paid Hotel workers . . Lots of luck with that strategy .
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
