SlutWalk on Stanford Campus

The term ‘slut’ is usually used to verbally attack women. Whether dished out as a serious indictment of one’s character or merely as a flippant insult, the intent behind the word is always to wound.

Today Stanford students rallied to TAKE BACK the term SLUT. Reclaim the name, and it loses the power to hurt!

The Raging Grannies joined SlutWalk at Stanford University today to sing about sexual assault and the need to treat women, no matter how they are dressed, with respect. (Lyrics below)

Several student speakers stood up and used the Granny portable amp & mic to speak their minds. One of the speakers reminded the crowd that it is not only women who are attacked sexually, both verbally and physically. Men and transgenders also suffer from sexual insult. The crowd enthusiastically agreed, all people deserve respect! No matter what they're wearing, everyone deserves safety!
