Norman Solomon Campaign Is Stillborn
Norman Solomon is destined to become yet another spineless candidate for Congress.
From http://www.normansolomon.com/norman_solomon/2011/04/running-for-congress.html
"...he has filed with the Federal Election Commission to run for Congress. He said that his name will be on the June 2012 ballot if Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey decides not to seek re-election."
So apparently he is a Demublican with no backbone even before the campaign starts ... ie he won't run against the incumbent in the primary. Big dissappointment.

Well, I don't agree with his becoming a congressman, but I don't think that means he's spineless.
In a way it's kind of surprising because you would think that someone as informed and aware as Solomon would be more distant from the mechanisms of control that involve Congressional politics.
Interestingly enough, today is the 30th anniversary of Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting.

Solomon has spent more time complaining and stating the progressive obvious than proposing any real earth changing plans...like implementing a state bank in California. The writer is right. His campaign will fizzle faster than a wet fuze.
The same Norman Soloman who touts himself an "expert" and pundit on the corporate media has launched previous attacks on Ralph Nader for even running for office. He along with liberal democrat Media Benjamin were angry at Ralph Nader for running against John Kerry. Joining the "liberal" attack on Nader Soloman urged people to support the Democratic war mongers because we would have better results.
" As bad as Kerry is, the base of the Democratic Party is clearly anti-war, and we need to build the movement, hopefully under the Kerry administration, where the prospects of having major impact in getting U.S. troops totally out of Iraq, which is what is necessary, are much better under a Kerry administration than four more years. That is the reality."

Soloman lined up with the corporate media in slandering and urging people not to vote who they wanted but who would be the best Democrat. He lined up with the Democratic machine who were trying to keep Nader off the ballot in state after state. Instead of exposing the rigged corporate controlled election in the US Soloman joined on the slanderous attack on Nader. After they are elected like Obama Soloman starts to piss and moan about how they are doing bad things. His support for imperialist war criminals and his agenda of making the Democrats a better choice has been shown to be fraudulent. His campaign or non-campaign since he doesn't have the integrity to run against Woolsey and he really does not have any fundamental differences with Lynn Woolsey show him to be an opportunist with no backbone and a "critic" with no principles. He wants Woolsey to quit so he can be the next "liberal" Democrat in Congress yet he still refuses to call Obama on his war crimes and even call for his impeachment. That would put him outside the "legitimate" Democratic party critics of Obama.
What this all shows is that for all his "education" and "punditry" about the corporate media, Soloman in fact is a supporter of the framework and agenda of the corporate media when it comes to capitalist politics.
Peace and Freedom Party and the Greens did run candidates for Woolsey's seats and they actually had real differences with Woolsey but of course Soloman would have nothing to do with them since he wants Woolsey's seat and would not want to offend the loyal Democrats. It might hurt his election chances.
