The first protest against a Berkeley No Sit/Lie Ordinance
No Sit, No Lie, No Way!
Members of the Muwekma Park (People's Park) activist community, houseless youth community, the Suitcase Clinic, B.O.S.S., and other concerned citizens gathered to protest a proposed sit/lie ordinance in Berkeley.

The city council vote for the ordinance will be in June. In the meantime, there is a growing opposition against the proposal.
Berkeley Police made their presence known at a distance, while UC Berkeley Officer Sean Aranas rode his bike into the crowd in an attempt to agitate the protesters into breaking the peace. The UC police's plan failed, as the protesters ignored his intrusion into the space.
People made signs, there was food, musicians including the reincarnation of Bob Dylan, and there was a chess match. Copies of the petition against the No Sit/Lie ordinance were signed by passers-by who support the opposition.
The corner of the old Cody's books was the first location for the protest. The group moved up Telegraph, down Bancroft, and marched to the downtown BART station. After a sit-in outside the station, the protest moved to its final location at Old City Hall.
