The following poem goes out to the local Amerikkkan Indians and allies bound to defend Sogorea Te [ Glen Cove ] from being transformed into a cement-covered monstrosity by Greater Vallejo Recreation Department and construction contractor Carone Company. Sogorea Te is an ancient Ohlone Indian burial site and should be respected as such. If left unopposed, Sogorea Te will become another in a series of desecrated sites long held holy by U.$. Natives on April 15, 2011. History is already populated with such examples: Bear Butte, San Francisco Peaks, Yucca Mountain, McCloud River, Big Mountain, Mount Graham, Pa' Sapa [ Black Hills ], Ward Valley, Bay Street hotel/shopping district in Emeryville. Now, more than ever----PROTECT SACRED SITES, DEFEND NATIVE RIGHTS.

The mountains are sacred
The forests are sacred
The trees are sacred
As are the lakes and streams
As are the stones
Dusty, dry prairies are sacred
Green meadows are sacred, too
Where wild herbs thrive, historically
Picked for use as medicine
Establishing a link to the Great Spirit
Pounding drumbeat, primal heartbeat
Prayers invoked into the changing colour sky at dawn
Blessed temple without walls
Gathering point of many sunrise human circles
Sacred are the waterfalls
Sacred are the shellmounds
Bones lie beneath
First Nations
Have fertilised the soil, strengthened the roots
Flora grows, long-resting Red brothers & sisters
Help continue the life-cycle, nourishment, equilibrium
The air is sacred
The breeze is sacred
The rain is sacred
Morning dew on leaves, sacred
Our eternal parent, sacred
All is sacred which belongs to her
Since she doesn't belong to us-----
She only lose her sacredness
When armies in suits & ties
Enforce their will
On her ancient body.
Factories, waste, mining, markets, pleasure resorts
Excavated bones
Blemishes, cuts run
Deep onto her form.
Desecrations widely celebrated.
Perversions of corporate man.
Our eternal parent
Shall avenge herself
Bringing on the whirlwind.
