When San Francisco’s decrepit Transbay Terminal bus station was demolished last fall to make way for a new $4 billion transit hub that is scheduled to open in 2017, more than just a travelers’ crossroads was reduced to rubble.
Around 100 homeless people, many suffering from severe mental illnesses, lived in and around the terminal.
As the final Aug. 6 evacuation of the building approached, city leaders pledged to help the Transbay homeless. But eight months later, it appears that most did not receive help.
