The City and County of San Francisco has 26,108 City Workers - our population is 816,000.

by Francisco Da Costa
The City and County of San Francisco has a population of 816,000. We have been told that our City has 26,108 workers. Roughly, for ever 30 constituents living in our City - we have one City Worker. In the last ten years - Quality of Life issues have been lowered in San Francisco - and most of it is because of poor leadership. For sure, most of the adverse impacts we have suffered was during the term of the last Mayor Gavin Newsom - and some during the tail end of Mayor Willie L. Brown Jr.
San Francisco is a City well known all over the world - but, it is also a City that most people when they revisit - those that visited or once lived in our City - - are prone to say that ten years ago this City was better of. That our City and County of San Francisco, has suffered - when it comes to Quality of Life issues.

One glaring factor is the amount of people who beg all over our City and especially where the tourist gather.

Another obvious factor is that our City is getting dirtier - from littering, graffiti on the buses and walls - and the despicable stinking toilets that are meant for the Public at Large.

Well, at one time we had a good Public Transportation system.

We call it MUNI and it does not run on time, and the service is poor.

From time to time the Municipal Transportation Agency under whose jurisdiction MUNI comes fakes some statistics and says that MUNI runs 75% or more on time - but, if you mention that to the ardent riders - they may run you out of town!

San Francisco has a problem with those that are homeless.

San Francisco has a large Senior population - and many of them when they fall on bad times - are forced to live on the streets of San Francisco. We also have a large population that is indigent and most of them have serious mental problems.

It may surprise most of you to know that the best place our mentally challenged get help - is in our SF County Jails.

Thanks to various programs and the help of our Sheriff - Micheal Hennessey. We also have some astute volunteers and City Workers - City Doctors, Nurses, Aides that do an excellent job - taking care of our Mentally Challenged.

On the streets of San Francisco the homeless must survive. Many of them lived in the Bayview Hunters Point and now live on Sixth Street in the Tenderloin. Others moved to Oakland and Richmond and from out of State if they could afford. If not they have fallen prey to alcohol, drugs, prostitution and finally death. What a pathetic situation but a real one to ponder.

Many may say what about the shelters - well, do know about the shelters, one must visit them. I have and so have some San Francisco Supervisors - and when you see the state of the Shelters - and how poor people are pitied one against the other - you kind of get the picture.

First Blacks suffered at the hands of the SF Redevelopment Agency in the Fillmore, and now the Bayview at Hunters Point, at Potrero Hill, at Oakdale Housing Project, and Sunnydale Public Housing and beyond at Alemany Public Housing.

Care not Cash may have helped some - but by far and large - it has not help most who after giving up most of their money to pay for a roof - must survive on a couple of hundred dollars - the rest of the month.

On an average those getting some $900 must handover 80% of their revenue - and that gives you a general picture - of the situation at hand.

Our SF General Hospital used to serve the clients and all San Franciscans well - not any more.

SF General Hospital has a $1 billion dollar budget - yes, one billion - but, every years we have seen the standards erode. Dr. Mitch Katz had left town and it now working in Los Angeles - and the State of affairs he left behind is not very pretty.

It has become customary to fire Registered Nurses. Those that translate when the patients do not speak English.

Now some Nurses are burden with three time the work load, and more - and the authorities that be think all is fine. Well, it is not - and if you go to some Departments at the SF General Hospital you will see all the fiasco - for yourselves.

More then fifty percent of our City's population are Senior Citizens.

This segment of the population has been adversely impacted. Add 10 years to the Baby Boomers who are about fifty five years - and you have a large segment of the population that are fast reaching the age to retire - or are prone to some sort of disability.

These folks need help - but all they get is the run a about. Many talk to me and I try to help them - but, this is becoming impossible - mostly because of the rampant - corruption in this City.

Our youth do not get opportunities. And this Summer we hope - this City working with the Community Based Organizations will go out of their way - to keep our youth occupied and prevent violence and crime.

There is already a lot of violence in some parts of our City. Community Based Organizations - such as HOMEYS, Community Response Network, RAP and a few others - try their best - but, as you can well imagine, trying to curtail violence in this dire Economic Period is difficult.

In the interim - our Interim Mayor Ed Lee and our lack luster, drab, inept SF Board of Supervisors are getting ready to fire an additional ten if not fifteen percent of the City Workers.

There are rumors that the City will OUTSOURCE - a dirty word when it come to the UNIONS - but, that is the word - being touted at City Hall in and around Room 200 and resounding in Room 250 - where the SF Board of Supervisor - keep acting like BUFFOONS.

There is nothing wrong with buffoonery - except the right environment where one can partake of such flaky entertainment is at the Circus or where folks have time to waste and fool around.

In and around Executive Park especially the roads leading to 101 North from Executive Park - you have large pot holes - it is just a matter of time before a serious accident happens. The ramp near COSTCO that brings you back to Southern Part of San Francisco - has another big crater - wait until someone lands and remains there injured.

Of course our City may have all the liability insurance to pay the victims - at least that is the way it looks when you see the facts first hand.

Our City has deferred maintaining the roads - and the best man we had to repair and maintain our roads - was the former Director of the Department of Public Works - Mr. Fred Abadi.

The idiot, aka Mr. Dipstick better known as Gavin Newsom - fired him and brought in the current Director of DPW - who does not know much and panders to City Hall insiders.

Well, as is being discussed our City wants to do more with less City workers.

Our City workers - especially Middle Management are well paid - on an average $150,000 with benefits. They continue to come to the City from outside because they do not live in the City - they venture into the City more for their pay and less to provide any quality - service, even less to service the constituents of San Francisco.

Ed Lee the Interim Mayor is talking the talk but I have not seen an concrete action - so far - that can be evaluated as something progressive - it is business as usual - with the MACHINE with folks like Willie L. Brown Jr. and Point Person for the Pacific Heights Mafia - Jim Lazarus making hay while the sun shines.

Mayor Ed Lee should know that pandering to the organizers of the World Cup - those filthy rich folks that love sailing is good for very few and benefits no one in particular - for sure the City will have to dole out money and get little in return.

We must not lease - water front properties to some one like the owner of Oracle - makes no sense.

The previous locations be in Spain and before that Auckland in New Zealand where the Americas Cup was held - did not make money.

I visited Auckland and have first hand knowledge of how much money was expanded and how many benefits Auckland received - a total loss.

What helped Auckland recently was the Rugby World Cup that helped recuperate some of those losses.

Now, speaking of San Francisco in these dire economic times - good luck. Ask foreign tourists if they like traveling - ask them what they really think about visiting San Francisco - and you will be shocked. I traveled twice in eight months to Australia and New Zealand and can speak from my own experiences - talking to many tourists who once used to visit the West Coast of America.

This City and County of San Francisco has spent a lot of money - backing corrupt Big Developers like Lennar.

Investing in dubious properties be it Treasure Island and Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. Now, trying to dabble by holding the Americas Cup - there is only so much of buffoonery that any system can endure.

First we must take care our constituents in San Francisco - we have NOT done that.

We must take care of our good, hard working City Workers - we have not done that either.

We must have a workable plan - we have no plan.

We must have leadership - look at the fools running around - spew diatribe, talking the talk and not walking the walk.

Good leaders know the way, show the way, and go the way.

Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom: Perhaps you could suggest to Gordon Getty; that he should pay the overdue $6,440,000 at MACDONALD BANK … after MACDONALD BANK earned the GETTY OIL COMPANY shareholders … $4,000,000,000.

MACDONALD BANK is filing a $22,000,000,000; war crimes lawsuit in Washington based on Getty’s support for Hitler. J. Paul Getty; FBI File 100.1202, June 26, 1940: Espionage.

J. PAUL GETTY TRUST; GORDON GETTY; RONALD GETTY; J. PAUL GETTY JR. ESTATE; MARK GETTY; ANNE GETTY EARHART; CLAIRE GETTY PERRY; CAROLINE GETTY; CALIFORNIA LT. GOVERNOR GAVIN NEWSOM & LOS ANGELES COUNTY MUSEUM OF ART.

An employee at the Getty owned Pierre Hotel in New York City wondered why there were so many Germans being hired and staying at The Pierre during World War II. He called the FBI and the FBI charged J.P. Getty with Espionage, FBI File 100.1202, June 26, 1940. 43,000 people were killed in the UK while J. Paul Getty was in Berlin still shipping oil to Hitler five months before Pearl Harbor; December 7, 1941. The mother of J.P. Getty was German. 2003 documents declassified by UK Warfare Ministry reveal that in Oct. 1941 the pro-Nazi Jean Paul Getty employed and lodged Nazis at his Pierre Hotel in New York City; Nazis who were involved in spying on and sabotaging Allied Forces’ war production plants. As aristocrats with treasures of art were executed -- beginning in 1933 -- with the outbreak of war; Getty assiduously added to his vast collection with the Nazis. The Rembrandt of Marten Looten hangs in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The Gainsborough of Christie purchased in 1938 is at The Getty Museum in Los Angeles.
