Whasup with FRSC & Democracy Now!???
FRSC Hasn't broadcast Democracy Now! once, for the past week- with no explanation...
Whats going on with FRSC?
It's been almost a week and FRSC hasn't boadcast Democracy Now! (scheduled 2x a day M-F 8am & 12noon) and I havn't heard any explanation. I'm concerned that FRSC is loosing me and other listeners & supporters in the local airwaves community~ who appreciate good news coverage. Maybe FRSC has actually become . . FRSC- the Federal Road Safety Commission of Nigeria . . . but, I hope there's better news....

Hi Grrr-ant
I ran in to John Malkin this weekend and he told me that,
thru a mixup of some sort( i think it had to do w. someone
moving out and the utilities bill not getting paid) the electricity
got pulled, and hopefully it will be restored soon and Free Radio
will be up and running.
I guess you're aware that Democ. Now airs on KPFA at 7AM,
and at 9AM on KUSP.

I believe your hearing a CD playing from their antenna while they fix the issue. DN is also available streaming at their website. Things happen with collectively run radio stations with little funding and no commercials or pledge drives. I hope you continue to listen & support FRSC. I know I will. I am sure this will be resolved soon.
Thanks for the clarification.
It might be wishful thinking- but it'd be helpful to have a space for updates on the FRSC Website
We're not giving up on FRSC that easily!
Tune-in & turn-on
FRSC forever!

Free Radio Santa Cruz is still putting out much of its usual programming streaming at http://www.freakradio.org.
What you're hearing at 101.1 FM, until our DSL transmission connection is restored (it's been down for more than a week, but is expected to be resumed soon) is some large station from an adjacent area. I've heard it's called "Air One".
Some regular local shows are also archived elsewhere (go to http://www.freakradio.org for more info). Mine, for instance, which I do Sundays 9:30 AM to 1 PM and Thursdays 6-8 PM, is archived at http://www.huffsantacruz.org under the link "Bathrobespierre's Broadsides". The archive sets up about a day after the show.
Folks can still listen in to the live stream and call in to shows as they happen.
You can also leave messages for Free Radio at 427-4523 or for me at 423-4833.

THANK GOD!!! I don't know if I could live with a disruption of the WORD OF ROBERT. What would we ever do without Robert telling us how to run our lives on Sunday mornings? We would fall to pieces without him.
FRSC is still on the air, but we are not airing what is on the webstream.
The DSL line at the transmitter site is down and we have no idea when it will be back up.
Until then we have a computer at the transmitter playing from a HUGE playlist.
Please listen in to http://www.freakradio.org for our normal programming.

Yeah, Air One is a Christian station that plays Christian Rock etc. etc. , when FRSC is on air, you get a little of both when you hit Aptos. But they are some other channel too so I don't think its ever been an issue of stepping on another channel, not that I personally would care if that corporate religious station was being blocked by FRSC.
Is it a money issue? Do you need people to step up beyond the normal. " we have no idea how long" sounds a bit serious. I know people will help if it came down to $$$$.
Peace
