Consulate-General of Japan,
My heart breaks for the people of Japan during this very difficult time in their history. I want the best for your country's citizens, which is why I'm asking that TEPCO start entombing the reactors immediately.
Every second that is wasted pouring water on the reactors, tinkering with power cables, etc... radioactive particles are being released into the air/land/sea. It takes spent fuel 8 to 10yrs to cool in a pool, so spraying water on them is pointless. Where is all that radioactive water going anyway? Into the sea? Unacceptable.
TEPCO's effort to salvage or repair the plant is unrealistic & based on greed, ego or stupidity. They are stalling as long as possible while exposing workers & the WHOLE PLANET to radioactive particles. The EPA is monitoring passing isotopes, but isn't watching the CUMULATIVE amount of fallout reaching California. Do not tell me that only miniscule amounts are reaching us, because it only takes ONE particle to ruin someone's life, and this has been going on for TWO WEEKS already.
I have a right to be protected from willful and unnecessary exposure to pollution, even if it comes from overseas. As a food-eating, water-drinking, air-breathing citizen of the planet, I demand immediate entombing of the reactors or face protests starting Tuesday 3/29.
Sincerely,
Our Lady of Perpetual Outrage,
Betty Beekeeper
