Education as Liberation? Exploring the Relationships Between Incarceration and Higher Education
The Inside/Out Writing Project invites you to attend an evening with Angela Davis as we explore modes of systematized inequalities within education and incarceration, and question the liberating role of education. Angela Davis is a Professor Emerita and author whose focuses include feminist rights, African-American rights, social consciousness, and anti-prison activism.
The event is titled "Education as Liberation?: Exploring the Relationships Between Incarceration and Higher Education" and will take place on March 17 at Innerlight Ministry located at 5630 Soquel Ave. in Soquel, CA. The evening will include a discussion panel followed by Angela Davis’ keynote speech. We hope you can join us to further understand critical aspects of the relationships between incarceration and the educational institution.
Panelists:
-Sadie Reynolds, founder of IOWP, PhD in Sociology, instructor of Sociology at Cabrillo College.
-Rev. Deborah Johnson, Reverend of Innerlight Ministries
-Michael Eccleston, Graduate student of psychology
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the event will begin at 7:00 p.m. Donations are gladly accepted. We wish to make this event accessible to everyone, so please contact us for specific accommodations. For any further questions contact us at: insideoutwp [at] gmail.com
