Tsunami Warning: San Francisco, Santa Cruz, and much of California Coast

Information below is from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's website. A tsunami alert was triggered by an 8.9 earthquake, epicenter off the shore of Sendai, Japan that occurred at 9:46pm PST (US) March 10. Japan's NHK is reporting dozens killed and scores more injured, as of this hour. A large oil refinery in Chiba Prefecture is aflame and most public transportation has been halted in Tokyo, where the earthquake shook buildings for several minutes. The quake was felt as far away as Beijing. Sendai is about 230 miles north of Tokyo. (Mei Bo Chan reporting for indybay.)
