Capitalism is indeed bad and getting worse. On that I'll certainly agree with Sasha Lilley. But what does she hope to replace it with? A top-down authoritarian system such as she and the CL/SaveKPFA gatekeeper group are working to install at KPFA?

When Sasha Lilley, now listed as the "acclaimed broadcaster" was the interim programming manager at KPFA she issued a reprimand against fellow broadcaster Miguel Molina for urging listeners to attend an anti-war rally. Is this the kind of "broadcaster" at KPFA that we need? Lilley argued even against advise from lawyer and fellow "Save KPFA" CL supporter Dan Siegel that she did this because if someone went to the anti-war rally because of Molina's urging and were injured at the rally, "KPFA could be liable for damages if someone sued." This was a ruse to attack and harass the "Flashpoints" crew. Her wrecking role at KPFA and her support for the "Save KPFA" agenda has nothing to do with the left but with supporting Democratic party hacks while talking "left". Why else would a manager reprimand a programmer for urging listeners to attend an anti-war rally? Her advise on where to go from here is misplaced for those who are serious about change.

Through a series of incisive conversations with some of the most eminent thinkers and political economists on the Left—including David Harvey, Ellen Meiksins Wood, Mike Davis, Leo Panitch, Tariq Ali, and Noam Chomsky—acclaimed broadcaster Sasha Lilley's illuminates the dynamic contradictions undergirding capitalism and the potential for its dethroning. The left luminaries in Capital and Its Discontents look at potential avenues out of the mess—as well as wrong turns and needless detours—drawing lessons from the inner workings of capitalism, the history of post-colonial states in the Global South, struggles against imperialism past and present, the eternal pendulum swing of radicalism, the corrosive legacy of postmodernism, and the potentialities of the radical tradition. Join Sasha Lilley and one of the conversants, Andrej Grubacic, for an evening of discussion of capitalism, the left, utopia, and how we might get from here to there.
