Signs for Saving Social Security
Do you know the way from San Jose (to Monterey)? Traveling from the Santa Clara Valley Labor Center to the Panetta Institute in Monterey.
Travelers to Monterey went to protest at the Panetta Institute. They went because they know that Social Security needs to be saved, not dismantled, for future generations and that Social Security is America's real success story and its promise to her people. Though widely viewed as being for retirees, Social Security is there for widows and their children, and people with disabilities too. Speakers at the Panetta Institute on February 21 were Deficit Commission co-chairs Alan Simpson and Erskine Bowles, both very wealthy men, who believe that people are "milking" the Social Security system. Nothing could be further from the truth!
