Announcing the San Francisco Green Film Festival 2011! This new global film festival will showcase the latest innovative film and media that explore the environmental, cultural, and socioeconomic aspects of living sustainably on this planet. SFGFF will bring together filmmakers, field experts, green industry professionals, students and educators from around the world for four days of film showcases, panels and workshops, networking and special events.

This festival was conceived out of a need for a forward-thinking platform for independent films that explore the sustainability of the Earth's ecosystems and resources. SFGFF's mission is to create inspiring programs of films and discussions that link media arts with environmental action.

As global citizens, we know that green is the future. As we make this transition, the festival will provide a dynamic forum for films that focus on key issues that define what green living really means. A short list of our powerful themes includes eco-economics, environmental sustainability, technology, and agriculture. SFGFF will provide opportunities for formal education and professional development. A tandem web-based festival will extend these opportunities to global online participants.

The festival will also provide filmmakers with a unique platform for their work, and provide audiences the opportunities to watch, share, discuss and act.

In our first year, we seek to position the festival as a flagship U.S. environmental film festival and the West Coast's leading interactive event for innovative film, television, and digital media that explore green and sustainability issues.
